Load Line Boxes
We built 7 boxes to prevent oil spills while truckers are connecting and disconnecting to an oil pipeline at a Peace oil sands facility. It was a rush job, although we’d built the protoype a year ago. The boxes need to stay open even in wind to avoid crushing anyone, and will be heated in winter. Everyone was slammed with the beginning of busy season, so while normally we would have had someone else bend the sheet metal, in order to get the job done on time we ended up building our own 20 ton press brake out of scrap metal farm machinery parts we had kicking around. It made such nice bends we’ll be using it for a lot of projects in the shop in future. These load line boxes will not only prevent damage to the environment from spills but increase safety.
